FRIZZI 2 FULCI
FABIO FRIZZI in Concert: A Tribute to the Cinema of LUCIO
FULCI.
Among the many Italian directors who enjoy cult status
beyond time and our national borders, LUCIO FULCI is
undoubtedly one. His fame and a certain fatal attraction to him
grew exponentially during his peak career, but it even
exploded after his death, among genre film enthusiasts and
beyond. Many of Fulci's films have gradually become critical
and commercial successes worldwide.
Now, time has passed, and the small but mighty army of Fulci's
film aficionados has definitively turned their passion toward
those titles that owe their appeal to a masterful blend of thriller
and horror. Even figures of the caliber of Quentin Tarantino,
Robert Rodriguez, and Eli Roth have declared their
unconditional admiration for the Italian master.
The brilliant soundtracks for some of Lucio Fulci's most
famous films are by Fabio Frizzi: a creative and professional
synergy, similar to Morricone's with Sergio Leone or Goblin's
with Dario Argento. Many of Fulci's productions, particularly
those related to the horror genre, feature music by the
Bolognese-born, Roman-adopted composer, and Frizzi is
acclaimed worldwide for this collaboration.
The undeniable popularity of those films and his long-standing
affection for Fulci prompted him to launch the Frizzi 2 Fulci
project in 2013, a true tribute to his friend the director's
cinema. In this project, he performs, in a rock-prog concert, the
most famous songs from true cult classics such as Four of the
Apocalypse, Zombi 2, City of the Living Dead, and The
Beyond...and You Will Live in Terror. He has been touring the
world with this project for many years.
The world premiere on Halloween night 2013 at London's
Union Chapel, filled to a roaring audience, was the project's
first sold-out performance.
Since then, numerous concerts have been held around the
world, including Europe, the Middle East, South Africa, and 10
US tours.
Over the years, two Cineconcerts have been added to the first
project: the Composer's Cut, dedicated to The Beyond and
Zombi 2. Essentially, Frizzi rewrote the soundtracks to two
Fulci masterpieces to perform them live with his musicians
during the film screenings.
A way to relive the powerful experience of Italian genre cinema
in a magical and new way.
